Family Balancing is being requested by our patients with increasing frequency. RGI offers two methods for family balancing, which also happen to be the two methods with the highest rates for successfully determining gender. The first is is called Sperm Gender Selection; the second is called Microsort Gender Selection.

These two treatments are used in conjunction with preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). PGD to genetically assess embryos prior to implantation. The genetic assessment is what makes PGD useful for achieving gender selection for family balancing purposes. However this technology is also used to screen for genetic anomolies, which makes PGD invaluable to couples who may be at risk of passing on certain genetic conditions.

RGI follows the ethics opinion of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) offering Gender Selection for non-medical reasons only in carefully selected cases. Gender Selection for non-medical reasons is offered only for purposes of family balancing, and is not offered for a first pregnancy.
